19-year-old southeastern Massachusetts teen identified as victim in fatal shooting

A local teen has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting that took place this week.

According to police, on Monday, at just after 7:30 p.m., officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan/Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 115 Milton Avenue in Dorchester.

Upon arrival, officers located 19-year-old Jalen J. Tavares of Lakeville, at 6 Selden Street, in the rear of 115 Milton Avenue, suffering from a gunshot wound. Boston EMS responded and pronounced him deceased at the scene.

The Boston Police Department Homicide Unit is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact Homicide Unit detectives at 617-343-4470.
