MA schools see another week of over 2,200 cases, New Bedford has most cases in the state, Fall River drops

COVID-19 cases among Massachusetts schools continue to remain high relative to previous numbers earlier in the year.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, a total of 1,901 new COVID-19 cases were reported among K-12 students from October 7th to October 13th. 337 were reported for staff making the overall total in Massachusetts schools for the past week at 2,238.

A total of 2,248 new COVID-19 cases were reported from September 30th to October 6th with 330 reported for staff and 1,918 for students.

Back in March, student numbers were in the 400s with staff cases under 200.

Here are the statistics from some area cities and towns from October 7th to October 13th

Acushnet: 3 student and 1 staff
Attleboro: 11 students and 2 staff
Dartmouth: 22 students and 2 staff
Fairhaven: 4 students and 0 staff
Fall River: 17 student and 3 staff
New Bedford: 64 students and 4 staff
Plymouth: 26 students and 3 staff
Seekonk: 7 students and 2 staff
Somerset: 9 students and 1 staff
Swansea: 8 students and 0 staff
Taunton: 9 students and 1 staff
Westport: 2 students and 0 staff

Fall River saw a significant drop with a ranking of 20th after having the 4th most cases in the state for two weeks in a row. New Bedford had the most cases in the state.
