Fall River Forever Paws Lady Luck is a smart furry toddler that is sunshine personified

Meet Fall River Forever Paws Pet of the Week Lady Luck!

Forever Paws is not entirely convinced that Lady Luck is a dog and not just a furry toddler…just smarter. Which is a terrifying concept if you really think about it.

Lady isn’t quite two years old yet, she’s about 33lbs, and she’s a bichon/terrier mix. She has ALL of the scruffy charm, and her beard game is unmatched (sorry, Jason Momoa). She’s the perfect schmedium sized dog for those that don’t want a horse but also don’t want to lose their pup under the couch like a hamster or something.

The thing about Lady…she’s a boundary pusher. She likes to see what she can get away with. (She’s cute and she’s a sweetheart so she’s used to getting away with A LOT.) She likes to push the envelope, toe the line, whatever you want to call it. She’s used to getting her way and doing whatever she wants whenever she wants. She is 50% brat and 50% lovebug. She’ll ALWAYS be happy to see you (so much so that she might headbutt you in the face, speaking from personal experience). She wants to be in your lap. She’ll put her muddy paws all over you. But she NEEDS consistency. She needs someone who won’t be a pushover and won’t cater to her every whim.

The other thing about Lady? They’re almost positive that she’s at least partially deaf. If you try to get her attention, there is a 70% chance that she won’t even blink. She’s stubborn, yes, but this isn’t just her ignoring you. This is her having zero reaction whatsoever. We know she can hear at least some things so it may be that she can hear certain frequencies and not others.

Lady is HIGH ENERGY. She’s bouncy, she spins in circles, she’ll jump all over you, she is very, VERY much still a puppy. Her leash manners aren’t fantastic but she’s getting better. She would be an AMAZING jogging partner because she loves to go fast but she has little legs so she can’t go SUPER fast. She’s an absolute goofball, has quickly become a staff favorite, and will make you laugh every single day.

She’s not the biggest fan of having her beard/lips touched (except for when she’s fine with it…see? Temperamental toddler.) She wouldn’t be ideal for apartment living/shared walls because she does seem to have some separation anxiety (so someone who WFH or is retired would be ideal) and she sounds like a tea kettle or a squeaky door hinge when she cries/whines.

She’s partial to women but WILL warm up to men (and has!) She’s apprehensive about other dogs, especially if they’re a lot bigger than her or if they’re super bouncy (because she is also a hypocrite, apparently) but she isn’t reactive. She’ll just lean away or run back to her handler like, “Mom, pick me up, I’m scared!” She would absolutely do well with the right dog(s). She’s terrified of cats but it would probably work with a dog-friendly cat that won’t terrorize her. Kids 12+ because, as much as SHE is a boundary pusher, she needs to have her own boundaries respected and she gets a little mouthy when she’s excited. It’s not aggressive, she just thinks hands are toys and was never taught otherwise.

She’ll most likely need to be pre-medded for any grooming or vet care. Because she’s a brat. But she’s also sunshine personified. She’s complex and she has LAYERS.
