Arrest made in pedestrian collision that killed 26-year-old Mattapoisett and Boston man

A man is facing several charges in a pedestrian collision that killed a man born in New Bedford.
According to court records, 47-year-old Francisco Romero has been arraigned in South Boston Municipal Court on charges of Motor Vehicle Homicide By Reckless Operation, Manslaughter While OUI, OUI, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Marked Lanes Violation, and Speeding Greater Than Was Reasonable and Proper.
On January 12th, at approximately 9:30 a.m., 26-year-old Noah Greany of Mattapoisett and Boston was walking in the crosswalk in Andrews Square after leaving Dunkin’ Donuts when he was struck and killed by an SUV. A restaurant was also struck, according to WCVB.
In an obituary, Greany was remembered for his warmth, sense of humor and generosity which made him the guy you wanted to be around.
“His presence could lighten up a room and his caring nature left a lasting impression on all who were lucky enough to call him a friend. To know Noah was to love Noah.”
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created to raise money for a foundation in Greany’s honor
Romero pled not guilty and was being held on $100,000 cash bail.
He has a scheduled probable cause hearing next month.
