Two firefighters injured as Fall River Fire Department battled heat, flames
The heat and humidity weren’t all that the Fall River Fire Department were contending with Friday morning.
According to Captain Eric Caffrey, at 11:14 a.m., the Fall River Fire Department was dispatched to 87 Barre Street for a reported building fire.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and visible fire showing from the two-story wood frame building that previously housed a carpentry business.
The response resulted in a 2nd alarm.
2 Cars, 5 engines, 2 ladders, Heavy Rescue 1, and Squad 11 responded to the scene, with Police, Emergency Medical Services, and Special Services – EMA.
Last units cleared at 1:18 p.m.
The fire is under investigation.
Two firefighter sustained minor injuries and were released at the scene.
