ICE Boston arrests El Salvadoran national accused of assaulting a first responder with a deadly weapon

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a man with a local criminal record into custody.

ICE Boston announced Monday the arrest of Oscar Alexander Ibanez Cordero, a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador, during targeted operations in New Bedford, Mass.

His criminal history includes pending charges for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and drug possession Class B, and a prior conviction for obstruction/resisting arrest.

Cordero has also been indicted for four counts of false imprisonment, assault of a police officer or firefighter with a deadly weapon/or with force likely to produce great bodily harm, and evading a police officer.
