DA Quinn elected President of Massachusetts District Attorneys Association
The Commonwealth’s District Attorneys have elected Bristol District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III as President of the Massachusetts District Attorneys Association.
With over 25 years of prosecutorial experience, including eight years as Bristol County’s First Assistant District Attorney, Tom was appointed District Attorney by former Governor Deval Patrick and current Governor Charlie Baker in January 2015. He was re-elected in 2016 and 2018.
As District Attorney, Tom has instituted programs/events to fight elder abuse, domestic violence, and has support youth crime prevention in the Commonwealth. He created a first of its kind Elder Abuse Unit to prosecute those who financially and physically abuse the elderly in Bristol County, and he similarly dedicated a Domestic Violence Unit to fight household violence. Tom has increased the use of dangerousness hearings to keep violent crime suspects in jail. Tom has been outspoken in promoting mentoring for at-risk youths and regularly organizes sports camps and other activities to keep young people active, engaged, and out of trouble.
Born in New Bedford and raised in Dartmouth, Tom graduated from Dartmouth High School in 1978 before receiving a bachelor’s degree from Holy Cross and a law degree from Suffolk Law. He is a parishioner at Holy Name Church in Fall River and serves on the Holy Name Parish Finance Council. Tom is also a former member of the Bishop Connolly High School Board of Trustees and a former youth mentor at the Nativity Preparatory School in New Bedford, where he still sits on the Board of Trustees.
Tom lives with his wife, Sharon, in Fall River. They have three children, Michael, Brian, and Caroline.
“I am honored my colleagues have elected me as the president of the Massachusetts District Attorney’s Association. I look forward to working closely with my fellow district attorneys and other government officials to address the many issues facing district attorneys’ offices throughout the Commonwealth,” District Attorney Quinn said.

This is a great position politically. I’d like to see DA Quinn take advantage of this great power for the benefit of Fall River.
