Those who were in for a relaxing night of bowling received a rude awakening at a Massachusetts bowling alley.

According to police, on Friday, just before 10:30 p.m., the East Longmeadow Police responded to Shaker Bowl at 168 Shaker Road for a report of multiple people fighting inside.

Officer Zackery Poremba was the first officer to arrive on scene and described it, in his report, as “absolute chaos” with “10-15 people actively fighting”, and “chairs and bowling balls flying through the air in all directions”. Officer Poremba was forced to quickly restrain and handcuff two different females whom he saw raising bowling balls over their heads to throw at others. Officer Nicholas Ottoson arrived on scene shortly after and detained another female who witnesses described as being an active aggressor in the fight.

The Longmeadow Police Department also responded to assist at the scene, as did the East Longmeadow Fire Department ambulance to evaluate multiple people for injuries. Ultimately there were no serious injuries found to any of the participants, though some sustained minor wounds.

Officers spoke with multiple witnesses, and following the on-scene investigation determined there was probable cause to arrest three participants on the following charges:

Kayla Padilla, age 21, of Springfield – Assault & Battery by a Dangerous Weapon (two counts), and Disorderly Conduct

Zaniya Cooley, age 19, of Springfield – Assault & Battery, Assault & Battery by a Dangerous Weapon, and Disorderly Conduct

Milani Otero, age 19, of Springfield – Assault & Battery, Assault & Battery by a Dangerous Weapon, and Disorderly Conduct

All arrested parties will be arraigned in Palmer District Court at a future date.

This is an ongoing investigation, and it is possible other participants could be charged in the future as well.

While on scene investigating this incident, officers also located a vehicle in the parking lot which had been reported stolen out of Springfield. That vehicle was towed from the scene and the circumstances as to how it arrived there, and with whom, remains under investigation.

The East Longmeadow Police thanked the Longmeadow Police Department and the East Longmeadow Fire Department for their assistance in this incident.
