Cambodian national convicted of second-degree murder in Fall River deported after arrest by ICE Boston
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has announced the deportation of a man living in the Bay State.
Sarath Lon, a criminal illegal alien from Cambodia convicted of second-degree murder for his role in a Fall River homicide, was captured in Concord, Massachusetts in May.
On March 18, 2006, Lon drove Leonard Gonsalves to County Street after a party. Gonsalves said he had “business” to handle and was carrying a gun. When he spotted someone he had a prior problem with, he had Lon turn around and park on Canonicus Street. Gonsalves then got out, walked around the corner onto Quequechan Street, and 10 to 15 gunshots were heard. He ran back to the car and they fled. The victim, 22-year-old Nathan Harrigan, was shot and later died from his injuries.
Lon was convicted by a jury on December 16, 2008, of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. He was granted parole in 2021.
According to ERO Boston, he was issued a final order of removal on May 2, 2017, and was removed from the United States this month.
ICE stated that Lon also had a criminal history including possession of a class D substance, and disorderly conduct.
