A Bristol County man who was shot by police was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to several charges.

According to Police Chief Richard McQuade, on September 12th, 2024, North Attleboro Police Department Officers responded to the Red Roof Inn located at 60 Forbes Boulevard in Mansfield, MA.

The Officers were on scene to serve outstanding arrest warrants to Kevin Burke of North Attleboro. Burke was located by Officers who then attempted to arrest him. Instead of surrendering when confronted by the Officers, he fled in his motor vehicle. An Officer was dragged by the fleeing motor vehicle, endangering the life of the Officer.

A second North Attleboro Police Officer discharged his weapon at Burke as he fled.

Burke was taken into custody a short time later, without further incident, in North Attleboro.

Burke sustained a superficial gunshot wound to his arm. He was treated for this injury at the hospital and was then released into police custody.

Three North Attleboro Officers were also injured during this incident and recovered.

Court records show on Tuesday Burke pled guilty to Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (2 counts), Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Possess to Distribute Cocaine, Trafficking More Than 10 Grams of Fentanyl

On Thursday, Burke was sentenced to not less than 3 1/2 years to not more than 5 years in state prison.
