Restaurant replacing Bens Foods at Fall River Liberal Club hits the ground running; here is what you can expect
With Bens Foods retiring and serving their last meal at the Liberal Club in Fall River on Saturday after over 50 years, their replacement has been announced.
Victor and Judy Gomes of Vic’s Harborside have already begun to hit the ground running to bring quality food to customers.
“Change is never easy, and whatever combination of past and new employees will be there for opening day, rest assured we will have the customer’s best interests at heart as has always been the case for Judy and me. We’ve done this for a little bit, and I think we are up to the task.”
Fall River Reporter asked Victor what type of menu customers should expect.
“We will keep the current menu, and we will do our best to emulate what the Benevides did so well for so many years.”
The Gomes’ are coming in with years of experience as they currently operate the kitchen at the Newport Elks, which they call Vics on Bellevue.
We asked Victor about an opening date, and while its contingent on how fast the team is assembled, it sounds like there will be at least a few familiar faces.
“It is contingent upon getting my staff in place. I am wholeheartedly trying to retain the majority of the staff that has done a fantastic job for several years. I do, however, need more pieces to the puzzle and I am currently looking for cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers, waitstaff, and bus people.”
If you are interested in applying for one of the available positions, you can contact Victor directly at 401-644-6819.
In my interaction with Victor, he was friendly and personable. With the restaurant experience to match, the Gomes’ pair seem like a great fit to carry on the Bens Foods tradition.
