Report ranks Fall River one of the best places to live in the Northeast
A publication has ranked Fall River as one of the best places to live in the Northeast.
The editors at Livability put together a list through research of the top 25 cities in the region.
Fall River came in at the middle of the list at number 13.
Here are some of the things that Livability had to say about Fall River.
“An idyllic small city in the Providence metro area, Fall River, MA, is quintessential New England: a textile mill history, beautiful foliage in the fall and, of course, a mysterious murder trial that people still talk about over 100 years later. Fall River was home to the infamous Lizzie Borden, who was acquitted of the murder of her father and stepmother (and whose rhyme we’ve likely all chanted at a sleepover). Visitors from all over the country are still fascinated by this case, and the city has leaned into its haunted past with the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast Museum (stay there if you dare).”
“Beyond 19th-century murder cases, Fall River is known for being a Portuguese immigration hub. In fact, Fall River has the largest Portuguese population percentage-wise in the entire country, and about half of the city has roots in Portugal. (So, it’s unsurprising that you’ll have your pick of Portuguese restaurants.)”
“To top off all of this exciting history and culture, another thing that makes Fall River one of the best places to live in the U.S. is its proximity to higher-ed institutions like Bristol Community College and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.”
“Fall River is one of the most affordable places to live in Massachusetts and has a relatively low cost of living compared to other cities in the state. In fact, the median home value is just $363,887. Residents of this cozy city also have access to ample outdoor spaces. Surrounded by natural beauty, there are several state parks and wildlife areas nearby, including access to several beaches and parks along the water, like Fall River Heritage State Park.”

Someone who doesn’t live here, Never been here is going to tell the people who live here how great it is to live here. Crime is getting worse by the day, the streets are almost undrivable and have been for 40 years. The rents are outrageous and the house price are even worse and like most homes in this city of they’re 100 years old your drinking water had lead in it. Other than that it’s a great city to live in.

They must be talking about another Fall River. This city is infested drugs and crime, homeless living in Kennedy park , shootings, robberies it’s horrible and just getting worse

LOL and it was rated #4 as one of the most dangerous cities in the northeast a few weeks ago ,,WOW
it WAS a good city at one time , we had recreation and block parties , famous bands played for FREE in north park ,JOBS , CETA programs ,down town was actually filled with shops, we had 3 movie theaters … that is until fast Eddy stole the government money ( to take his mistress on vacation while his disabled wife was left home) to ship in 94 Roxbury families who then brought their nasty thug culture and drugs and gangs with them to our city …. keep driving through don’t even stop at a traffic light in the city these days

That new tourism director needs a raise!
Fall River needs to open its collective arms to newly arrived Americans struggling to find housing and social services.
Our city is lovely, but it needs more diversity. This is especially true in the school department, City Hall, and elected officials.
The city’s history of white-centric leadership and whites in positions of authority are no longer beneficial with the demographic shift we”ve undergone.

I seem to remember a guy who wasn’t white, named Jasiel Correia, and that also didn’t go well. It’s not a diversity issue. It’s a ghetto loser issue. The city is full of lower class families, many of whom idolize trash behavior and weren’t parented as children who are now raising children of their own and not parenting them either while they all think it’s cool to ask like ghetto drug addict trash people.
