Former Fall River Principal Robert Correia returning as interim principal

Fall River, Mass – Fall River Public Schools is welcoming back a familiar face at the Resiliency Preparatory Academy. Interim Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Smith has announced that former Principal Robert Correia is returning to the school as interim principal.

A veteran educator, Correia brings more than 28 years of experience with Fall River Public Schools back to the school community he previously led, including extensive experience developing and supporting alternative pathways for students.

According to FRPS, Correia began his educational career with Fall River Public Schools in 1994 as a science teacher at the James Madison Morton Middle School. During his nearly three-decade career in our district, he held various roles, including principal of the Resiliency Preparatory Academy before retiring in 2021.

“I am happy to have the opportunity to return to Fall River Public Schools and to the Resiliency Preparatory Academy,” said Mr. Correia. “I am looking forward to returning to 290 Rock Street and getting back to working with students, families, and staff.”

Correia, who lives in Fall River with his wife, holds a bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State University and a master’s degree from Cambridge College. He will begin his role today, Monday, August 24, 2026.

“Rob’s previous administrative experience at RPA and his many years of service to our district make his return particularly meaningful,” said Dr. Smith. “We are thankful he has agreed to step into this interim role and provide strong leadership for RPA. We are pleased to welcome Rob back and appreciate his willingness to support our students, families, and staff during this transition.”

Correia’s return comes as the building at 290 Rock Street takes on an expanded role within Fall River Public Schools. The building will house three district high school programs: Resiliency Preparatory Academy, Evolve Academy, and the new FRPS Virtual High School.

The leadership transition follows Dr. Stacy Monette’s move from Resiliency Preparatory Academy to the role of principal at the James Madison Morton Middle School.

The district will continue their search for a permanent principal at RPA to identify a long-term leader for the academy.
