Fiola, Fall River delegation, hosts new Executive Director of MA Cultural Council for Fall River tour
Fall River, MA (May 17, 2021) – State Representative Carole Fiola, House Chair of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, hosted the new Executive Director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Michael J. Bobbitt, for a cultural tour of Fall River on Friday, May 14th. Representative Fiola and Bobbitt were joined by Mayor Paul Coogan, Representative Paul Schmid, Representative Alan Silvia, Senator Michael Rodrigues, and local cultural advocates. The group stopped at Battleship Cove, the Narrows Center for the Arts, Portugalia Marketplace, and the Fall River Museum of Contemporary Art for their FABRIC Arts Festival.
The Massachusetts Cultural Council works to expand access, improve education, promote diversity, and encourage excellence in the arts, humanities, and sciences in addition to offering grants to Massachusetts communities.
“It was a pleasure to show Michael and other members of the MCC around Fall River this afternoon to showcase the City’s cultural highlights. As House Chair of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development, I know how hard hit these sectors have been by the Covid-19 pandemic. I look forward to helping these industries rebuild in the weeks and months to come. The MCC is a significant partner and stakeholder throughout the Commonwealth and in Fall River for resources to support arts and cultural activities. As Michael is its new Executive Director, I felt it was important for him to speak to these business owners and see these venues in person to learn about the struggles facing Fall River businesses,” commented Fiola.
“As Massachusetts continues to make progress on COVID reopening policies, I truly look forward to safely visiting cultural organizations, meeting artists of all creative disciplines, and touring the Commonwealth’s vibrant communities,” said Michael J. Bobbitt, Executive Director, Mass Cultural Council. “I am so thankful to Chairs Carole Fiola and Michael Rodrigues, the Fall River legislative delegation, and Mayor Paul Coogan for welcoming me to their City today and immersing me right into the fabric of Fall River’s cultural community.”

Carol Fiola; please be sure to pass by Griffin Park on Fifth Street while touting the greatness and beauty of the city. Fall River is not even safe for our small children, are we living in a war zone? Let’s not promote a false sense of what Fall River has become, let us root out the seedy criminal element that has been flocking here because of the great welfare benefits that Massachusetts provides to any and all who demand them. I am outraged that these type of deadly and distgusting acts are occurring in our city. What about those protesting against the police, would they like to live in this neighborhood without any public safety? Time for some new “Woke” leadership because some are asleep at the wheel!
