Fall River area communities receiving help after Blizzard of 2026 damaged roads, led to high snow removal costs
Help is on the way for Fall River area communities trying to recover from road damage and snow removal costs due to this year’s massive blizzard.
Senator Michael Rodrigues announced Thursday the breakdown on how much each community will receive.
“While most of Massachusetts was impacted by the Bizzard of 2026, the SouthCoast was especially hard hit, requiring the National Guard to come in and assist Fall River and other nearby beleaguered communities. I worked with my Senate colleagues to deliver winter municipal relief to support roadway restoration from winter storm damage and allow municipalities to pay down their snow removal budget deficits. I’m proud I was able to secure over $2 million from the Senate version of Fiscal Year 2026 ‘Fair Share’ Supplemental Budget for my district to get their roads and budgets back on track. Here’s the distribution:
Fall River $604,188
Westport $369,060
Swansea $273,566
Somerset $226,222
Lakeville $206,755
Freetown $205,799
Rochester $179,672
In addition, I offer a heartfelt thank you to all the first responders, plow operators, and all public workers who battled the Blizzard to help maintain emergency and basic municipal services for your community. Your selfless actions will never be forgotten!”
