Crews continue search after vehicle submerged in Seekonk River occupied by mother, daughter, 2-year-old child
Crews continue Monday to locate an occupied vehicle that became submerged in the Seekonk River.
According to police, on Sunday at approximately 7:30 p.m., Pawtucket Police Officers were dispatched to the Taft St. boat ramp following reports of an occupied vehicle entering the water.
Upon entering the water, the vehicle quickly became submerged. Members of the Pawtucket Fire Department, surrounding public safety agencies, and the Rhode Island Stated Police Dive Team responded to the scene. A coordinated search and rescue operation was initiated immediately.
At approximately 1:00 a.m., search efforts were suspended due to challenging water
conditions and poor visibility but continued this morning.
A GoFundMe fundraiser states that a mother, her 19-year-old daughter and the 19-year-old daughter’s 2-year-old child were in the vehicle and have not yet been recovered.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
