Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island residents charged in dangerous street takeover involving nearly 100 people
A Massachusetts Police Department has charged 17 people from across New England following a comprehensive investigation into a coordinated street takeover that endangered motorists and responding officers in October 2025.
The incident occurred early Sunday, October 5th, 2025, when large crowds gathered at the intersection of North Main and Oak streets in Randolph. Vehicles performed drifting maneuvers and donuts in the roadway while participants blocked intersections to allow the stunts. Spectators surrounded the area, many recording videos for social media.
When the first officer arrived, his cruiser was quickly surrounded by the crowd, preventing him from entering the intersection. Individuals swarmed the vehicle, striking it and blocking its path. Fireworks were ignited both on top of the cruiser and nearby in the street. Officers estimated nearly 100 people were in the roadway at the intersection.
Following the chaotic event, Randolph Police detectives launched an extensive investigation. This included reviewing cruiser dash camera footage, surveillance video from nearby businesses, and numerous social media videos posted publicly online. Investigators also obtained a search warrant for information related to several Instagram accounts believed to be connected to the event. Recovered messages showed organizers sharing locations and instructions with participants while encouraging spectators to impede police.
Randolph Police identified several individuals believed to have taken part by blocking officers, surrounding the cruiser, or performing dangerous stunts. As a result, 17 people have been charged in Quincy District Court with offenses including Conspiracy, Interfering with a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct, Operating to Endanger, Number Plate Violations, and related charges.
Investigators believe many of the individuals traveled together to multiple takeover locations across several Massachusetts communities that same night. The investigation remains open, and Randolph Police continue to work with regional law enforcement partners.
“Street takeovers create dangerous conditions for everyone involved, including the responding officers, anyone traveling in that area, and residents who live nearby,” said Chief Anthony Marag. “This case required extensive investigative work and strong coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies. I commend our detectives for the time and effort they put into identifying those responsible, and I also want to recognize the patrol officers who faced a volatile situation that night and continued working to keep the community safe.”
