Chief Marc Haslam reports that the Swansea Police Department has issued arrest warrants for two suspects in connection with a larceny that occurred at a jewelry store in October 2021.

24-year-old Travis Almonte, of Lakeland, Florida, will be charged with Larceny over $1,200 and Conspiracy.

28-year-old Julien Vasquez, of Providence, who is currently in custody for an unrelated matter in Plymouth County, will also be charged with Larceny over $1,200 and Conspiracy.

On Saturday, October 16, at about 2:25 p.m., Swansea Police received a report of a larceny of a high-value diamond necklace from the Hannoush Jewelers, 1056 G.A.R. Highway.

During the initial investigation, officers learned that a man, later identified as Almonte, allegedly entered the store and asked to see a diamond necklace. Almonte then allegedly fled the store with the necklace into an awaiting car allegedly driven by a male, later identified as Vasquez.

After several months of investigative work, including reviewing video surveillance, executing numerous search warrants, conducting interviews and working with other police agencies, Swansea Police Detectives Jonathan Boyd and Eric Thibault identified Almonte and Vasquez as the suspects allegedly involved. Swansea Police then obtained warrants for the arrests of the two men.
