Reward offered after dog dumped deceased from heat stroke in Rhode Island

A local shelter is looking for the public’s help after a dog was found dumped and deceased due to neglect.

According to the Warwick Animal Shelter, on August 9, 2023, a deceased underweight, un-neutered male Siberian husky estimated to be middle-aged was found wrapped in a sheet in a trash bag at Rocky Point Park.

Necropsy results recently released indicated that the dog died of heat stroke. The shelter stated that the outside temperature on that day was in the low 80’s so it appears as though the dog was either in a car or another enclosed structure, such as a shed, where the temperature would have reached a dangerous and ultimately fatal level.

Chalk and crayons were also found in the trash bag with the deceased dog so there may have been children living in the home.

The dog was wrapped in the above sheet.

A reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest. Call at 401-468-4377 or email animal.shelter@warwickri.gov
