A trip to the beach for a Massachusetts woman turned into a selfless act that will likely be remembered forever by a local man.

On Friday afternoon, Kathleen Lau took a trip to Nantasket Beach in Hull. Little did she know what she was about to encounter.

“I was at the very end of Nantasket beach (Friday) around 1:30 with my kids when a dog off a leash came over to us. I was a little wary, since it’s the end of June. The owner said he’s blind and very gentle and wouldn’t hurt the kids. I asked how old, and he said 12, and then he started to cry.”

The man, Kevin, told her that he was on their way to the vet to put him down and he was having one last walk with his dog.

“He walked away quickly before I could say anything else.”

Kathleen snapped the above photo of the man and his dog and hoped to somehow be able to get it to him. The man had been on her mind that entire afternoon.

She then took to social media hoping someone would know the man.

“If you know who this man might be I want to get this photo to him to remember their last stroll on the beach together.”

In less than two hours, the man and the vet where the dog was being put down were identified.

Kathleen emailed the photo to the animal hospital who made sure Kevin would get it.

Lau was thankful for the help she received so she could get the photo to the rightful owner. I am sure even more thankful is Kevin for her thoughtfulness in providing him a lasting memory of his special companion.
