A Fall River soccer club had a tremendous season that landed them a trip to Virginia.

Fall River FC, who plays out of Britland Park, won the Northeast Conference of the Eastern Premier League winning 16 matches, losing none, with 1 draw.

According to League Secretary Bill Marth, the Eastern Premier Soccer League is a regional league in the Northeast, playing from fall to spring (with a winter break) from Virginia to Massachusetts. The league has four conferences: Northeast (Massachusetts), Metropolitan (New York/North Jersey), Delaware River (Eastern PA/South Jersey) and Mid-Atlantic (DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia). The conferences play among themselves and then the conference playoff winners play in the league Final Four.

Fall River FC traveled to Leesburg, Virginia this weekend for the EPSL Final Four where they beat the Delaware River Conference winner, Oaklyn United, 4-1 late Saturday night.

With a quick turnaround in the heat early Sunday afternoon, Fall River FC lost 4-0 to the Mid-Atlantic winner and repeat champion, undefeated Nova FC in the title game. FC had their chances on goal but couldn’t quite capitalize.

The Fall River Football Club was first established in 1921 before being resurrected in 2019 after an extensive layoff. FC quickly continued the successful soccer tradition finishing at or near the top in the respective league standings since the restart.

While FRFC’s season ended in difficult fashion, they have no reason to hang their heads and have something to build on for the 2023-2024 campaign.
