Massachusetts sees yet another drowning death Wednesday
Today, another person tragically drowned in Massachusetts.
According to police, at approximately 8:50 a.m., the Shrewsbury Police Department received a 911 call from 351 Spring Street in Shrewsbury.
The caller reported that a 60-year-old man was found unresponsive in a pool.
Shrewsbury Police, Fire and Worcester EMS responded to the scene. A police officer who was assigned to a traffic detail nearby was first to arrive on scene.
When police arrived, they discovered that a good Samaritan neighbor had removed the victim from the pool.
Responders immediately attempted lifesaving measures, and the victim was transported to UMass Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The incident remains under investigation by the Shrewsbury Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police.
Massachusetts has seen a rash of drownings this year.
5 people drowned in Massachusetts in a 3 day span.
A one-year-old also recently died from a drowning in a family pool.
Also in Rhode Island, two people died in Narragansett Bay this week.
