Massachusetts sees COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations increase in today’s report

Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations in Sunday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 626 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Saturday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate remains at 1.1%.

Massachusetts had seen 600 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 132,440 with 3 more reported dead for a total of 9,295.

18,981 tests were performed on new individuals, over 5,100 more than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,306,606. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 4,334,501.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths decreased to 13.

Hospitalizations have increased in 13 of the last 20 days and increased by 22 today to see the total lower to 438.

Today Governor Baker announced that lower risk communities in Massachusetts will soon be permitted to open certain entertainment venues.

With 8 percent putting a city or town in the red, Fall River continues to barely stay out of the red and stay a low risk community with a 7.7% Average Daily Incidence Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days). New Bedford is in the red at 9.8 making the city still a high risk community.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to September 30th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 89,948
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 86,491
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 3,457

According to the CDC, as of October 4th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 7,359,952 with 208,821 dead.
