Massachusetts sees 99 confirmed COVID-19 deaths as country sees 3,541 new deaths

Massachusetts saw an increase in deaths, cases, and active cases in Wednesday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 6,419 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Tuesday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate saw a decrease to 8.25%. The rate was 3.3 on November 23rd and 6.68% a week and a half ago.

Massachusetts had seen 4,178 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 386,052 with 102 more reported dead (99 confirmed, 3 probable) for a total of 12,836.

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 11,308,785 after 102,573 new molecular tests.

The 7 day average of COVID-19 deaths is currently 52.

Estimated active cases increased to 79,967.

Hospitalizations have increased in 85 of the last 114 days and 60 of the last 73, but saw a decrease by 12 to see the total lower to 2,416.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to the December 31st report, Fall River has a 102.4 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (103.6 last week) which is a decrease and the twelfth highest in the state, however, the positivity rate increased to 13.60%. New Bedford saw a decrease to 86.8 (was 100.9). Westport is also in the red at 68.6 (was 68.6), Swansea is at 64.9 and was 70.8 last week, and Somerset saw a decrease to 81.4 (was 86.0). Freetown saw their rate increase as it now sits at 90.0 from 83.7. Dartmouth is currently at 68.5 after seeing 62.9 last week.
