Iconic Fall River restaurant Mee Sums up for sale after 74 years

A Fall River landmark is up for sale.

According to John Viveiros of Lamacchis Realty, the iconic Mee Sums, the Chinese-American restaurant open for over 74 years serving the Southcoast and beyond with exceptional Chinese cuisine is up for sale.

The owners are retiring and willing to provide training. The eatery is open for business as usual.

Co-owner Regina Mark reflected on putting the business on the market.

“It is very hard to let go of the work we love to do, and we thank all the people all these years who’ve been supporting our business, we hope that we find the perfect people to take over our business and continue Mee Sums tradition. Meanwhile we are still serving the community and remain the same until further notice, Thank you.”

The restaurant, located at 1819 South Main Street, has been popular among Fall Riverites and nationally.

CNN came to see Mee Sum on August 6th of 2019 for a story on the Chow Mein sandwich. With the story, the landmark restaurant decided to also raise money to help repair St. Anne’s Church by selling over 1,500 Chow Mein sandwiches that raised over $10,000. CNN staff even chipped in to help.

Fall River native, restaurant owner, chef, and former tv show host, Emeril Legasse featured Mee Sum and stated how much he loved the Chow Mein sandwiches.

In 2018, Thrillist ranked Mee Sum one of the top 25 Chinese restaurants in America.
