A 42-year-old Freetown woman was arrested Thursday evening after police responded to a shots fired call at a South Main Street apartment.

According to Lieutenant Steven Abbott, at 6:30 p.m., dispatch received a call from the apartment’s property manager who had arrived at the location after being told that a tenant had vandalized a camper. He reported that he was standing in the driveway when a tenant appeared on a second-floor porch, pointed a black handgun at him, and fired three shots before he was able to take cover behind a parked vehicle. The manager told police that he had heard “loud pops.”

Sergeant Scott Rose, Patrolmen Thomas Long and Nicholas Drinkwine were dispatched to the scene. Patrolman Long escorted the manager, who was not injured, from the scene as a perimeter was setup. Berkley and Lakeville police officers assisted in closing the street to vehicle traffic.

Two second-floor tenants eventually emerged from the apartment and were detained. Officers then performed a protective sweep of the apartment where a Glock 19 pellet gun was seized.

Jennifer E. Norris, 6 South Main Street, was arrested and charged with Vandalism of Property, Assault By Means of a Dangerous Weapon on a Person over 60, and Disturbing the Peace.

She was released after posting bail in the amount of $1,000.
