Shooting suspect arrested in Fall River

On May 10th at approximately 8 p.m., members of the US Marshal/RISP violent fugitive task force, Fall River Police, Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force and Newport Police departments located shooting suspect, Calvin Febles of Middletown, RI, hiding inside 2990 North Main Street, Fall River, MA. The residence and occupants were secured and Febles was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Fall River Police Department and held as a fugitive from justice from RI.

On April 24 at 7:55 p.m., Newport Police responded to the Festival Field apartment complex at 90 Girard Avenue for a report of an individual who had been shot in the upper torso. The gunshot victim was a 22 year old Newport resident and was taken to the Newport Hospital. He has since been transferred to RI Hospital.

An investigation by Newport Police determined the shooter to be Febles. Both the victim and Febles were familiar with each other and the incident took place following an argument. Febles fled from the scene and the incident was broadcast as a “be on the look out” to various local police departments including Fall River.

The warrant for Febles is for Felony Assault, Discharge of a Firearm while Committing a Crime of Violence, Firing in a Compact Area, and License or Permit Required for Carrying a Pistol.
