BRIDGEWATER — Bridgewater Police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte reports that, after a lengthy search, Bridgewater Police and its regional first responder partners located the body of a missing town resident late Wednesday afternoon.

The 67-year-old Bridgewater man was last seen on Tuesday at his home on North Street, and he was reported missing by relatives.

Police and other first responders from around the region, including mutual aid provided by member agencies comprising the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Search and Rescue Team conducted a significant search of the area on foot, by drone, with all-terrain vehicles, K-9 search teams and infrared cameras before a Massachusetts Department of Correction K-9 team ultimately found the man’s body in a wooded area near the Scotland Industrial Park.

“The Bridgewater Police Department would like to offer its sincere condolences to the family our resident,” Chief Delmonte said. “We appreciate the response of our surrounding communities’ police and fire departments from throughout the region that joined the search effort.”

The Bridgewater and Raynham Fire Departments assisted in the search. Bridgewater Police issued several updates to the public via social media during the search, as there was a significant police presence in the area during the search.

Police did not release the man’s name.

Foul play is not suspected in the man’s death, however as is standard procedure, the death is under investigation by Bridgewater Police Detectives and State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office.
