Municipal Finance Oversight Board grants City of Fall River over $18 million in state qualified bonds on 12 projects

The Municipal Finance Oversight Board has approved a borrowing request from the City of Fall River to use the state’s bond rating.

According to State Auditor Suzanne Bump, the City made the request to ask for approval to use the lower rating to fund several City projects and save the city money.

The meeting with the Board was held Wednesday morning at the State House in Boston.

The board unanimously approved the request.

A Chapter 44A request was granted for $18,633,499 in state qualified bonds for the following projects:

o Watson School Repairs Phase 2
o City Water Project Phase 21
o EMS Metal Building Construction
o Durfee High School Baseball Field Turf & Lighting
o Police Station – Window Replacements, HVAC, & Chiller
o Kennedy Park Repairs
o Fire Depts. – Overhead Doors, Boiler, & Generator
o Cathy Assad Tot Lot Capital Repairs
o Parking Garages – Roof Repairs & Lighting
o Dept. of Community Maintenance – Excavator
o Library Boiler
o Police Dept. – Bucket Truck with Lift
