Multiple police departments combine to arrest two Taunton men after police chase

A police chase led to an arrest of two people on Thursday.

According to Mansfield Police, just after 2:00 p.m., MPD officers were dispatched to Mansfield Gulf 54 Chauncy St. The caller reported a white Hyundai had just been stolen from the parking lot of the service station and was last seen traveling Chauncy St. westbound. Officer Danielle Titus positioned her cruiser in the area of Chauncy/Copeland intersection and began monitoring traffic. Moments later, a vehicle matching the description of the stolen car and bearing the license plate provided by the caller, passed by Officer Titus’s cruiser. Officer Titus activated her emergency lights, and it became immediately apparent that the operator of the stolen vehicle would not be stopping.

The Hyundai continued on Route 140 Southbound, eventually into the Town of Norton, where Norton Officer Melanie Costa, located the stolen Hyundai in the area of Freeman Street. Ofc. Costa continued to follow the vehicle with the operator still refusing to stop. Eventually, Officer Costa located the Hyundai behind a restaurant on Route 123.

One person was taken into custody in the parking lot. A second person was arrested following a brief foot pursuit into the wooded area behind a residence on North Worcester Street.

Norton PD and Mass State Police assisted.

Darrius Fiske, 19, of Taunton is to be arraigned for Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Class E Drug, Possession of a Class D Drug to Distribute, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Various civil motor vehicle violations, and Outstanding warrants.

Austin Pacheco, 19, of Taunton is to be arraigned for Receiving Stolen Property (over $1,200).
