HINGHAM – A man charged with child rape has been found dangerous, and is being held without bail, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.

After an hour-long hearing Friday in Hingham District Court, 26-year-old Cory B. Alvarez was found to be dangerous by Judge Heather Bradley and was held without bail. Alvarez pleaded not guilty in Hingham District Court to one count each of Aggravated Rape of a Child with 10 Year Age Difference and Rape of a Child by Force.

The charge stems from an investigation by Rockland Police. At just after 7:00 p.m. on March 13, 2024, Rockland Police were dispatched to the Comfort Inn at 850 Hingham Street for a report of a sexual assault. The Comfort Inn is currently part of a state/federal program to house migrant families. Alvarez resided at that address.

Upon arrival, Rockland Police encountered the 15 year-old female victim, who was then transported to South Shore Hospital for treatment. As a result of their investigation, Rockland Police developed probable cause to arrest Alvarez, and he was taken into custody.

On March 14, Alvarez was arraigned on one count of Aggravated Rape of a Child. The Commonwealth moved for the dangerousness hearing where Alvarez was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to an additional charge of Rape of a Child by Force.

Alvarez is next scheduled to appear in court in April.

According to WCVB, Alvarez and the victim are both migrants. He legally came to the country from Haiti in June 2023. He had been living at the hotel since October while seeking immigration status.

Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by Rockland Police.

Healey said “Healey defended the state’s safety protocols regarding the shelter of migrant families and said state officials are “deploying all that we can in terms of vetting individuals,” according to the Globe report.

“We have the right systems in place. It is unfortunate that from time to time, things will happen … not just in shelter, but anywhere,” Healey said. ”

Nonsense! They’re not vetting anyone obviously. Her laissez faire attitude tells you all you need to know. ” hey it happens from time-to-time ” Funny they don’t adopt that attitude when criminals use illegal guns. They go right after the law abiding citizens. Healey is a disgrace.
