MassDOT announces expected delays, lane closures on the Braga Bridge

According to Judi Riley of MassDOT, district 5 will be conducting routine maintenance operations on the Braga Bridge on I-195 over the Taunton River in Fall River and Somerset on Wednesday, June 5th, Thursday, June 6, and Tuesday, June 11, 2019. Work will consist of cleaning of the bridge drainage scuppers and will take place per the schedule below.

· Wednesday, June 5th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM – Westbound Breakdown Lane

· Thursday, June 6th from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM – Eastbound High-Speed Lane

· Tuesday, June 11th from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM – Westbound High-Speed Lane

On Wednesday, June 5, cleaning operations will be focused on the westbound side of the bridge. Work on both days will require the closure of the breakdown lane in the respective direction.

On Thursday, June 6, cleaning operations will be focused on the eastbound side of the bridge’s high-speed lane. On Tuesday, June 11, similar operations will be performed on the westbound side of the bridge. Work on both days will require the closure of the high-speed lane in the respective direction.

A minimum of two travel lanes will remain open to vehicles in each direction traveling over the bridge at all times. Traffic Management will consist of standard temporary traffic control utilizing police details.

PLEASE NOTE ***Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency situation.
