Massachusetts sees 28 newly reported deaths due to COVID-19 in Wednesday report, city & town weekly report issued

Massachusetts saw a decrease in hospitalizations in Wednesday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 262 more positive cases announced in the last 24 hours. An increase from the previous 24 hour period. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate remains at 1.4%.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 115,048 with 28 more reported dead for a total of 8,645.

Massachusetts had seen 213 more positive cases in the previous 24 hour period.

19,508 tests were performed, almost 7,900 more than yesterday, to increase the overall total to 1,974,918. The amount of individuals tested is now 1,487,273.

Hospitalizations have decreased in 77 of the last 101 days and saw a decrease of 9 today to see the total drop to 365.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to August 19th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 79,187
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 76,344
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 2,843

According to the CDC, as of August 19th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 5,460,429 with 171,012 dead.
