A Massachusetts man is being accused of urinating in multiple beverages in a supermarket and then placing the containers back on the store shelves.

34-year-old Billy J. Smith Jr., of Ash Park Drive, Stoughton, was arrested at approximately 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening on a warrant and charged with attempted poisoning with intent to kill or injure, disorderly conduct, and vandalizing property.

According to The Enterprise, Smith pleaded not guilty on the charges Thursday and was released on personal recognizance. The judge ruled that Smith must stay away from all grocery stores.

The Enterprise stated that a police report revealed that a store employee at the Stop & Shop at 932 North Montello Street observed a man, believed to be Smith, exhibiting suspicious behavior and then stated that he thought Smith had urinated inside a refrigerated almond milk container that was now warm.

Video surveillance revealed that the suspect had held three Almond Breeze containers and three Bai juice containers near his groin while checking to make sure nobody was in the area. The video also showed the man place the beverages back on the shelves behind other items.

Police checked the address attached to the vehicle that was seen leaving the lot with the man inside. According to an officer, Smith admitted he was driving the car in question and had visited the Brockton store.

Brockton police applied for an arrest warrant for Smith and he was later arrested at his home.
