Massachusetts COVID-19 hospitalizations increase for 2nd consecutive day

Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations in Wednesday’s COVID-19 report for the second straight day.

Massachusetts has seen 162 more positive cases announced in the last 24 hours. An increase from the previous 24 hour period.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 104,961 with 30 more reported dead for a total of 8,028.

Massachusetts had seen 140 more positive cases in the previous 24 hour period.

9,133 tests were performed, almost 1,900 more than yesterday, to increase the overall total to 1,157,023. The amount of individuals tested is 910,354.

Hospitalizations have decreased in 49 of the last 58 days.

Today the Baker-Polito Administration announced free COVID-19-testing sites in Fall River, New Bedford, other locations.

As of June 1st, the Department of Public Health began reporting both confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases and deaths.

This change is in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control to include “probable” COVID-19 cases and deaths in data collection and reporting efforts. This change has increased the number of cases and deaths reported in Massachusetts.

According to the CDC, as of July 8th, the total amount of cases in the country is 2,982,900 with 131,065 dead.
