Fall River’s Kennedy Park will not only be decked out in festive lights in December, but it will also have Santa, and more!

The idea, which is the brainchild of Justin Rutkowski and Roxanne Longstone, is set to take place beginning with a kickoff on December 4th at 5:00 p.m. and will continue throughout the month.

Rutkowski stated that he and Roxanne had the idea of the Winter Wonderland last year after they held the Halloween event at City Hall, but due to time restrictions, they decided to wait until this year.

“We got approved by the Park Board to light up the park. We worked on this, Roxanne especially, the last few months.”

The pair thought it would be great to have the pond at Kennedy Park frozen during the month-long event, however, due to its size, they decided to reach out to a company that rents out rinks. It was determined however, that the electrical can’t support the temporary rink.

Weather permitting, the existing rink will be flooded and if it freezes, skating will be allowed.

In addition to the park being lit all month long until 9:00 p.m., there will be entertainment on Saturdays.

On Saturday December 10th and December 17th from 4-8 p.m. there will be live music, dance performances, vendors, crafts for children, face painting, hot chocolate and more!

On Saturday December 10th from 6-8 p.m. there will be a visit from “The Grinch”.

On Saturday December 17th from 6-8 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to town.

So, get ready to walk in a Winter Wonderland!
