January 26, 2019 – At approximately 4:43 p.m. yesterday, the Weston Barracks received several calls reporting a man on the hood of a white SUV traveling on I-90 Westbound in Weston. Troopers responding found several citizens had managed to get the SUV stopped, without any injuries incurred.

Initial investigation by Trooper Glenn Witaszek indicates that a 2016 Infiniti QX70, operated by Mark Fitzgerald, 37, of Ashland, and a 2014 Ford F150, operated Richard Kamrowski, 65, of Framingham were involved in a minor, side-swipe collision as they traveled on I-90 Westbound in Weston.

Following the collision, Kamrowski stopped in the left lane, exited his vehicle, and attempted to exchange paperwork with Fitzgerald, who was still inside his vehicle. That encounter became adversarial and at some point, Kamrowski retrieved a water bottle from the interior of Fitzgerald’s vehicle before taking a position in front of that vehicle. then Fitzgerald began driving towards ,Kamrowski who subsequently jumped up on the hood of Fitzgerald’s vehicle.

Fitzgerald then began to drive westbound with the Infinity accelerating and stopping, with speeds reaching as high as approximately 70 MPH, while Kamrowski remained on the hood of the vehicle. At some point, Kamrowski broke the windshield of the Infinity by hitting it with the water bottle he had taken earlier in the encounter. The Infinity continued about two to three miles, while other motorists attempted to get Fitzgerald to stop.

Motorist were finally able to stop the Infinity, and one operator, who was a properly licensed gun owner, exited his vehicle and ordered Fitzgerald out of his vehicle at gun-point. Fitzgerald was then detained until troopers arrived on scene.

Fitzgerald was placed under arrest and charged with the following offenses:
Assault with a dangerous weapon on a person over age 60
Negligent operation of a Motor Vehicle
Leaving the scene of a property damage accident

Kamrowski was also placed under arrest and charged with the following offenses:
Disorderly conduct
Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle

Both men were released on personal recognizance pending their arraignment on Monday morning in Waltham District Court.

pulling a gun is illegal…called “brandishing” even if you are “properly licensed” the 3rd man SHOULD properly been arrested… Having a carry permit doesn’t make you a free lance policeman
