Man reportedly jumped by group of teens after leaving Providence Place Mall
Police are investigating after a man was reportedly injured Friday night after leaving the Providence Place Mall.
At approximately 9:35 p.m., a call came into dispatch for a male who had been robbed and assaulted after leaving the mall on One Finance Way.
According to GoLocalProv, the victim was a 26-year-old male who stated that 5-6 teenage boys between the ages of 12 to 16 had jumped him. The man stated that during the assault, he had dropped his $200 phone and one of the juvenile’s fled with it.
The victim reportedly received minor injuries that included a swollen face.
The Providence Place Mall area has been the scene for several incidents through the last few years.
In January, a teenager was reportedly robbed by a group of men after an unrelated fight that took place the week before.
In 2020, a man was stabbed to death inside the mall.
In 2019, 8 were arrested after a disturbance.
Also in 2019, several fights in one night led to 10 arrests.
