The video shows police and security arresting and chasing several individuals along with groups of patrons running on two occasions.

According to the owner of the video Darren Sen, the incident began at approximately 9:00 p.m. where two groups of teenagers were arguing.

Two incidents were reported by some witnesses in the mall. Providence Police stated this morning that one incident happened just outside of the mall.

When we contacted Providence Police Major David Lapatin, he stated that incidents did take place at two separate areas. 8 juveniles were arrested in the two incidents. One of the eight was also charged with assault on a security guard and possession of a prohibited weapon (knife). The first incident was inside the mall and the five that were arrested were all from Pawtucket and Central Falls. The second incident was on Francis Street outside of the mall where a fight broke out between two females. A third female was arrested for refusing to leave and shouting words that could have started another fight. Those three females were from Cranston, Providence, and Pawtucket. Both incidents started around the same time. Lapatin stated that police are unsure if both incidents are related.

“The crowds were reported to be big outside of the mall, but we think most were onlookers who were watching the fight.”

According to Lapatin, police are also investigating whether the incident was prearranged using social media.
