Man killed in weekend motorcycle crash on Route 24 remembered as a great soul

A local man has died after injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash on an area highway.

According to Captain Michael Miguel, on Saturday, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Tiverton Police were notified of a single motorcycle crash on Route 24 northbound in Tiverton.

On scene investigation revealed that the operator, identified as 48-year-old Joseph Morris of Warren, RI, lost control of his Harley Davidson motorcycle and veered off the roadway, south of exit 1A, striking the tension wires off the shoulder of the high-speed lane of travel, sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses stopped to assist and provide medical aid to Morris until he was transported to St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River where he succumbed to his injures a short time later.

Officers were assisted on scene by members of the Department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit and members of the Tiverton Fire Department.

Condolences and memories poured in all weekend after the death of Morris. Those who knew him were heartbroken and described him as a great friend and a great soul lost way too soon.
