A local man was killed last week after a motorcycle crash.

According to Barrington Police Chief Michael Correia, on Thursday at 10:11 p.m., Barrington Police Officers were dispatched to a single vehicle (motorcycle) accident in the area of 5 Barneyville Road.

Upon arrival, Officers observed a serious motorcycle accident with the operator unconscious and not breathing. The Officers immediately initiated CPR until relieved by Barrington Fire Department personnel.

The operator, identified as 34-year-old Michael R. Dumont of Warren, RI, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.

The Barrington Police Department’s accident reconstruction team thoroughly investigated the accident, to include several witness interviews and determined speed to be a factor.

Dumont was wearing a helmet when he left the road and struck a large rock. He was thrown off the motorcycle approximately 150 feet, hit several trees and telephone pole wires before landing on a home’s front lawn.

The Barrington Police Department and the Barrington Fire Department extended their sincerest condolences to Dumont’s family.
