Is the term Taxachusetts earned? According to a new report, not so fast

Massachusetts has been called Taxachusetts in what seems like forever. Is it warranted?

While Massachusetts wont be confused with New Hampshire in tax-friendliness, compared to the rest of the northeast, Massachusetts doesn’t fair that poorly according to a new report by Kiplinger.

In the report, Massachusetts compares or in several cases beats out many states in the northeast.

Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ohio all came in with higher total taxes according to the research; and that was just the northeast. A handful of other states also ranked worse for taxes.

Here is a snapshot courtesy of Kiplinger.

The report included data and state tax-policy details from a wide range of sources including income, sales, fuel, property, and sin (tobacco, alcohol, vapor) taxes.
