Two Massachusetts brothers indicted in Superior Court for the murder of 43-year-old Anthony Leverone

BROCKTON – Two brothers were indicted in Plymouth Superior Court today in
connection with the murder of a man found dead in Abington late last year, Plymouth
County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.
Suzito Lopes, 43, and Antonio Lopes, 37 were indicted on one count each of
Murder. Antonio Lopes is also charged with one count of unlicensed possession of a
firearm. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to related charges in Brockton District Court
in January and were held without bail.
The charges stem from an incident on December 27, 2024. On that date, at 7:25
p.m., Abington Police received a call requesting that police perform a well-being check
on the caller’s male relative living at 563 Plymouth Street. Upon arrival, Abington Police
and emergency medical personnel located the male unresponsive in the backyard of the
residence. Abington Fire personnel pronounced the male victim deceased on scene. He
was identified as 43-year-old Anthony Leverone.
The brothers were previously known to Leverone.
Abington Police contacted the Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit assigned
to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, to begin the investigation.
Preliminarily, it appears that Leverone died of blunt force trauma, and high impact
injuries.
Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District
Attorney’s Office and Abington Police conducted interviews with multiple people,
reviewed surveillance video, and executed search warrants on several cell phones as part
of the active investigation. As a result, they developed probable cause to arrest two men
in connection with the crime.
The Lopes brothers will be scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
