Heavy rains brought flooding throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island Wednesday morning resulting in multiple rescues, including one in Norwood.
According to the fire department, just before 5:30 a.m., Norwood Fire and Police responded to Upland Road near Washington Street for a vehicle in the water.
Upon arrival, crews found 1 vehicle fully submerged and a single occupant that had self-extricated prior to arrival but was unable to swim and hanging on to a tree.
Firefighters quickly deployed a rescue swimmer in a survival suit to remove the person who was then transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Upland Road remains closed from Washington to Everett Street.
