You may have been wondering about the construction taking place at a Fall River pool. We have the answer.

According to the Press Secretary for Department of Conservation & Recreation, Brenna Galvin, on Monday, April 8, 2024, Wednesday April 10, 2024, and Friday, April 12, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., DCR will implement temporary shoulder and sidewalk closures along Eastern Avenue (southbound) to accommodate construction work at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Swimming Pool and Spray Deck.

Traffic patterns will be clearly marked, and a work crew will be on site.

We asked Galvin what exactly was taking place at the site, and she stated that the scope of the work includes improvements to the existing spray deck including size increase, new rubber surfacing, fencing/circulation upgrades, and sitework.

So, while the pool construction may be a minor inconvenience in the short term, those who frequent the pool in the hot and humid summer months will reap the benefits.

They did away with the driving boards which was a terrible idea. I miss diving off the 12ft board fun times.
