Fall River Police made an arrest this week after seizing a large quantity of drugs.
According to police, on Thursday, detectives assigned to the Fall River Police Department’s Community Action & Suppression Team, with assistance from our Emergency Services Unit, executed search warrants at an apartment located at 2000 Bay Street and a vehicle associated with the investigation.
The target of the investigation was 48-year-old Frank Saunders.
During a search of the vehicle, a 2014 Acura ILX, detectives located a backpack in the trunk containing a significant quantity of suspected cocaine.
In total, detectives seized approximately 545.53 grams (1.2 pounds) of suspected cocaine, representing more than half a kilogram of narcotics.
Saunders was taken into custody and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine, 200 Grams or More.
Chief J.T. Hoar commended the detectives and officers involved:
“This is another example of the proactive investigative work being conducted by C.A.S.T. Removing more than half a kilogram of cocaine from circulation is a significant seizure and demonstrates our continued commitment to disrupting drug trafficking activity in our community. I want to recognize the teamwork between our detectives and Emergency Services Unit personnel in bringing this investigation to a successful conclusion.”
Saunders was arraigned in Fall River District Court Thursday and was held without bail pending a hearing on Wednesday.
