Fall River Mayor Coogan’s Office issues update on Hurricane Lee and city’s response

(FALL RIVER, MA- SEPTEMBER 14, 2023)- The Office of Mayor Paul E. Coogan, the Department of Community Maintenance and the City’s Emergency Management Agency have been monitoring weather updates related to Hurricane Lee that is projected to pass the coast of Southeastern Massachusetts on Friday, September 15th into Saturday, September 16th. The City of Fall River is currently preparing for Tropical Storm force wind/gusts with some rainfall on Saturday, September 16th.

In order to prepare for increased wind speeds, the City will have three tree crews on standby to address any fallen trees. Fall River residents are advised to please read this Hurricane Preparedness Checklistfrom the American Red Cross for reminders on best procedures for how to prepare for before, during, and after a hurricane/tropical storm.
