A Fall River man will serve time in State Prison after pleading guilty to charges that he raped a female juvenile victim that he met online, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced.

George M. Wamboldt (DOB: 09/22/82) of Fall River, pleaded guilty to two counts of Rape of a Child. Plymouth Superior Court Judge Robert B.Gordon sentenced Wamboldt to serve 7-8 years in State Prison.

The investigation began on October 15, 2015, when Rochester Police were contacted about the rape of ajuvenile female. Through their investigation, police discovered that Wamboldt had an ongoing and sexually explicit conversation with the underage female victim online. Investigators found that between April1, 2015 and October 13, 2015, Wamboldt exchanged numerous graphic text messages with conversation and pictures with the victim. The investigation further found that Wamboldt sexually assaulted the victim on two occasions in the town of Rochester and on multiple occasions in Fall River.

“Today’s resolution takes into account the wishes of the victim in this case and her family and the life altering events that they have endured during the pendency of this case,” DA Cruz said.

Wamboldt was arrested in Derry, N.H. on October 17, 2015 while visiting family. He was indicted on the charges on December 22, 2015. His cases are still pending in Bristol County.
