Fall River Licensing Board rules downtown lounge should have liquor license suspended for three days

A show cause hearing was held Wednesday to determine what actions, if any, should be taken against a Fall River lounge.

Owner Nuno DoSoto of La Conquista Lounge, 227 South Main Street, appeared in front of the Licensing Board after police had multiple complaints of patrons drinking after hours in the establishment.

With officer cam footage as evidence, police showed in one particular instance that they were called to the area on January 1st just after 4:00 a.m. concerning a possible fight outside. They came into contact with a DJ who stated he just came from La Conquista.

When officers entered the building, it appeared that they located people drinking in the establishment that was supposed to close at 2:00 a.m. Police also offered evidence of a receipt with a time stamp of just after 4:00 a.m.

DoSota also appeared to give officers a difficult time when they approached him about the violation.

DoSota argued that the people inside were cleaning up and not drinking in the establishment at the time.

Greg Brilhante of the Board stated that he was not buying that reasoning and recommended that La Conquista have their liquor license suspended for three days, April 12th, 13th, and 14th.

The motion was approved.

DoSota has the option to appeal.
