An incumbent Fall River city councilor has withdrawn from next month’s election.

In a statement on social media, Pam Laliberte announced that she has withdrawn her name.

“Today I submitted notice to the Board of Elections to withdraw as a candidate from the upcoming Municipal Election. Over the past 8 years I have been honored to serve, and fortunate to meet and assist so many really good and kind people throughout the city of Fall River. I am incredibly appreciative of everyone who has supported me, and I look forward to watching this new chapter of our city continue to grow as a constituent. Good luck to all the candidates in November!”

Laliberte had finished 13th in Tuesday’s Preliminary Election.

Laliberte admitted in May to two misdemeanor harassment charges which resulted in probation until December 29th. She was accused of harassing the wife of an ex-lover and business associate through cellphone calls and text messages.

In September of 2022, Laliberte stepped down as president but remained a city councilor after issuing a statement that she would not be able to give the attention of president that it deserves.
